When Is Right Time To Say Good Bye To Potty Training And Potty Props For Good

Potty training started long before you set a date and time for your potty plan. And it continues for a time after your child starts wearing underwear on a regular basis. You will use your potty sense for months, if not years, thinking for two and unconsciously being aware of bathroom and bathroom stops. After all, accidents may happen when your child is excited, is in a new environment, or gets distracted during a fun activity.

Keep that extra bag of clothes in the back of the car through kindergartner. Many preschoolers have potty accidents. Sometimes, kindergartners have potty accidents. Plus, children are messy. A melting ice scream mess might be more likely than a potty accident. However, you'll be prepared if your child has a embarrassing accident. Speak to an older child with respectful sensitivity. Blame and shame are no more appropriate with an older child than with a younger child. Your older child is more verbal and can probably explain the source of his distress if asked gently. You can then problem solve a solution together.

The day always comes when you realize you aren't asking about your child's potty needs or giving any more reminders. Your child did it! He isn't wearing a pull up to high school.

You did it, too. Congratulation

Putting The Potty Props Away

Potty chairs, travel potty seats, changing tables, diapers pails, good riddance! As your child grows into a little person, your home becomes less babyish. Every parent and child feels different things about the changes.

Think back to the temperament styles. Some parent and child never look back. If you haven't used potty props for a month, pack them away. Even if your child has accidents, you don't want to become prop dependent again.

Parent and children with slow to warm up temperament will want a transition time. They will enjoy a few days to prepare for the inevitable. Some children dislike surprises thought it's not uncommon that it takes months for them to notice the change. Tell your child that you will be putting away the potty gear. You can plan a simple and sweet farewell ritual. You and your child can sing a favorite potty song while you put the potty chair in a cardboard box and tape it up. Use this time to congratulate your child on his success. He should be very proud of him self.
