Easy Temperament Child

The child with a easy temperament is the easiest to potty train.



  • He is less frenetic and able to sit for short lengths of time.


  • He adapts well to schedules. Feeding schedule and nap schedule are predictable, which also leads to predictable pottying schedules.


  • He isn't easily distracted from a task. So, if he see a new toy on his way to the bathroom, he will remember to come back to it after he goes potty.


  • He can listen to verbal encouragement and support with out a strong reactions.


  • The experience of sitting on a cold potty or naked bottom is not overwhelming.


  • He will respond easily to pottying in a variety of situations under variety of conditions. He is more likely to pause another activity if he need a potty break.


  • His frustration may be express more mildly. Mistakes and setbacks will be small blips to success rather than mayor pitfalls.


  • He may be eager to embrace new potty expectation. For example he may be eager to sit on a potty chair. He may even claim to be ready before physical readiness is apparent.


  • Over all the potty process is more likely to be light hearted. You may experience quick success or steady progress instead of an emotional roller coaster.



Easy Temperament Child Potty Training Challenges

The easy temperament child may not care if he need a clean diaper. He's is not distress by the minor inconveniences of diapers. The motto "LIFE IS GOOD" was written for him. The child with easy temperament may not ask to be potty trained. If you ask him to use the potty he will. But if you don't ask him, he's equally content. And if your a busy parent you might be relief that he doesn't seem to need you.

This is also the child who doesn't set off load alarms he has a ear infection and probably wont complain about urinary tract infections or painful stools, either. This child can easily be the last to be potty trained, simply from being neglected. In this case if you hear you inner voice asking "I WONDER IF HE IS READY?" it maybe time to take a few simple steps to move your child forward into the next stage.
