All children like games. Children who generally do not like games because they create a familiar ritual around the newness of the potty experience. Pick one of these simple potty games to add to your child's potty routine. Don't try every one of the following suggestions just sample a few of the ones that sound genuinely fun to you or your child.
- Laminate homemade red-light and green-light cards that your child can put into a decorated tissue box in the bathroom. Green-light if he went to the potty red-light if he didn't. You can also use smaller red/green light cards with velcro on a bathroom poster board.
- Make a hand print of your child's hand on a bathroom tile or poster with the word "HIGH FIVE" After your child sits on the potty he can stop to give him self a high five.
- Draw a happy face on the bathroom mirror every time pee or poop makes it into the potty. Use crayola washable window makers or any brand that can be wash off when
the potty training is over.
- Sing a potty song. Here's one to the tune of "Frere Jacques": Are you peeing? Are you peeing? Little one? Little one? Yes I am. Yes I am. Now I'm done. Now I'm done.
- Collect toilet paper rolls. Use them for horns, tunnels for small cars, or background to paint on. Line them up and count them.
